tea and sympathy

Well today started off with Quela knocking my tea all over me and the desk...then Marcos made me another and I knocked it over all over me and the desk again! I'm so clumsy..don't know what Quela's excuse is ;)
Maya bought a book yesterday...she was feeling ill and wanted to curl up in bed witha book.
This is the one she bought..don't know what it is like but seems to have good reviews:

Shakespeare's Secret by Elise Broach (Henry Holt, 2005). Hero knows her unusual name comes from a character in the Shakespeare play "Much Ado About Nothing," but that's no consolation on the first day of sixth grade at her new school. All the kids make fun, and she's sure this year will be as empty as all the rest. But then Hero meets an elderly neighbor who tells her about a missing diamond, and much to her surprise, Hero finds herself becoming friends with one of the cutest, most popular boys in school. Ages 10-up.

So apart from that we have all been ill for the last few days. A lingering cold. It's just wearing me out..it knocked Maya for 6..she slept 15 hours last night. And Quela has been grouchy but not too ill. Marcos was all curled up on the couch yesterday but seems better today. I'm looking forward to my bed tonight, which seems to be the case every day! Being pregnant is a big part of that. I'm sleeping like a log every night. I'm never like this when pregnant. Usually I get up 10 times in the night and can't get comfy..but this time I'm having long long periods of sleep..and sometimes *gasp* through the whole night! It must be sheer exhaustion. Running after Quela and breastfeeding is really draining. But a blessing too, because I love being able to sleep :)

hmm apart from that I had a big row on the phone with the council about the rent. It was a classic example of the woman saying to me "the computer says NO!" Their computer has gone crazy. I can't be bothered to explain it, but they used to pay me 4 weeks in advance and now they have changed it to 2 weeks in advance and in the change over a cheque "disappears". If they have done this to everyone , then the council now has millions of extra pounds in their bank account. The cynic in me is wondering who is creaming it off the top. It has now left me very short of cash and extremly angry with the woman on the phone who found it impossible to see the maths. i.e. you pay someone every 2 weeks then you suddenly don't pay them for 5 weeks..duh! they are missing a cheque..."but" says the woman " computer says you have been paid upto 2 weeks in advance"..."but" says I, " computer has to pay 4 weeks in advance to cover ONE MONTH IN ADVANCE" arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
"but" says woman " you still have some money in advance..so what's the problem?" arghhhhh
It's called THE RENT!

Then because I must have sounded very frustrated she warned, "I have someone listening to this conversation"
Oh good I thought, then they will see just how dumb you are..but unfortunately it turned out to be the poor sod who had handed me over to her in the first place..he was as clueless as her! Nice to see they find someone objective to listen in!
She left me with her repeated tones of "computer says NO"...so I've written a letter..hoping someone in that office can think outside the stinking computer!

*phew* nice to get that off my chest! lol
