Kerensa is half a shoe size bigger than Quela..so one size doesn't fit all anymore! :D
Been digging the allotment... and covering up the beds I dig, as I go along. Finally I can see some sort of order to the plot. I love this time of year. I seem to be able to get things done as the weeds are less rampant!
Our tasks are to finish marking out the beds, digging and covering. And Marcos is going to make the compost bins with old palettes. Quela wants us to plant a small tree for her to water. Still wondering what to do at the front of the plot. want to somehow keep it tidy so our stuff doesn't sprawl on the paths. The Italians(who have the most amazing plots) have a grapevine cage but that is just too ambitious..plus they have alot more land.
We also have to attach the water butt to the shed and aquire a push mower for our paths....been hunting on freecycle.
This has to all be done before spring!

People on our allotments plant perennial herbs on the edges to keep it tidy. Globe artichokes are lovely, too. The chokes look like huge thistles. Very handsome 'plants'...they can grow to about 4-5 feet in height.
Annie and I 'planted' apple pips in pots and put them on the windowsill (covered them in clear plastic bags to help them along). We were intending on planting them on the allotment on our fruit side.
We've done the same with orange pips (and watermelon) and they've sprouted and smell lovely when you rub the leaves:o)
Am well impressed with Maya's 'solo'.:o)
I've just managed to get a two-keyboard organ from my mum's sheltered housing place. They were going to chuck it out, can you believe?!!! Just need a forklift truck and strong men to move it for me. lol
