then we had a picnic..then we all melted in the heat! They say this will be the hottest day ever recorded in the UK. I believe them! Thank goodness for old shady trees! Posted by Picasa

this makes me SO SO excited about homeschooling! did you hear about this at the festival? and again, you really impress me with how active your family is with a new born.

Hi Autumn,
A local home ed. group arranged the day out. The dig is run by the Museum of London, and lots of community groups and schools etc have helped with the dig. All the artifacts go back to the museum to be inspected. They found old bone toothbrushes from the boarding school that was once on the site. The toothbrushes have their names engraved..so they will try and match those up to the census.
At one point a bunch of school children came into the park where we were digging and they were all hot and sticky in their uniforms. They were told to come and watch our children do all the fun digging. I felt sorry for them. They all looked bored stiff and miserable. Then another school group came into the park and all had to sit down, while all our kids were playing on the swings and in the paddling pool. The benefits of NOT going to school!
