... it has come to this..the government is legislating on breastfeeding. It is going to be ok to breastfeed your 6 month old baby in public but not your 7 month old.
The very fact that the act of feeding our young should need legislation just shows how screwed up the world we live in is. The fact that I can take my kids in a newsagents and see breasts everywhere on the top shelf yet the rights of a 7 month old child to feed when it is hungry/thirsty are ignored because breasts offend people. If more people fed their children this way it would become less uncomfortable. My children don't even look twice at a breastfeeding mother they are so used to being around it.
This decision by government to have a cut off age at 6 months is going to mean less people will breastfeed past 6 months. The world health organisation says babies should have some breast milk until at least 2 years.
This petition deals with this issue. It has had about 600 people sign it in 24 hours.

Thank goodness some people care about the rights of babies and children.

Bloody disgusting - post it on the group. I've signed and now I need to write a letter as well.

The world has fallen off the radar...cuckoooo
Honestly, the 6 month cut off really is mad, and just shows how little legislators know about the things they legislate about. Plenty of six month old breastfed babies can't take in sufficient nutrients in any other way than the breast, having real problems taking milk from a bottle as it involves such a different action and not eating huge amounts of solids at this stage.
I keep finding my self saying it...Oh honestly!
totally - old sods - old men most of em and never been near a baby or a mum for ages.

How did I miss this insanity? More fuel for the fire in my belly. Does anyone in the UK celebrate World Breastfeeding Week (in just over a week)? Some activism is in order!
